Advice
I am regularly asked by the government, social partners and other social organisations to advise on their policies. I do this in one-on-one conversations with civil servants, ministers, members of parliament, administrators and policy advisors. Sometimes I provide written advice upon request.
I am a member of a number of advisory bodies:
Advisory Council on Migration (member since 1 September 2024, previously added expert)
Advisory Council of the Social Insurance Administration ( UWV Werkbedrijf) (member since 2018)
Advisory Panel Expedition Scheme (since 2022; advises the Minister of Social Affairs and Employment on the award of subsidies within the framework of the Expedition Scheme for sustainable employability and lifelong development)
Scientific Council Blik op Werk (member since 2015)
As a member or additional expert of the Advisory Council on Migration, I was primarily responsible for the advisory report Balanced labour migration (Afgewogen arbeidsmigratie) that was presented to the Minister of Social Affairs and Employment in September 2024.
Previously, I advised the government in my roles as senior researcher at the Netherlands Bureau tor Social Policy Analysis (SCP) and staff member at the Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR). An example of this is the report ‘Values, norms and the burden of behaviour’ that was drawn up at the request of Prime Minister Balkenende.
In the past, I have also fulfilled the following advisory roles:
Knowledge Platform Work and Income (KWI) (chairman from 2015 to 2020)
Expert group labour of the Statistics Netherlands (CBS) (chairman from 2014 to 2023)
Discussion group individual and collective in labour relations of employers' association AWVN (chairman, 2016-2017)
Advisory Board Start Foundation (member)
